The Astronomy Nexus

The Dobsonian telescope from other images I've rendered has migrated to a planet around Barnard's Star, a dim red dwarf star about 6 light years from the Earth. The star field here was made from small spheres whose positions were determined from data in the Hipparcos catalog of stellar positions and distances. Moving six light years isn't enough to disrupt the familiar constellations -- Orion, the Pleiades, and several other well-known groups are still visible here -- but a few significant changes are visible. In particular, the Sun appears only as a bright star, just to the left of Orion's "belt".
